Go and Serve

Tuesday, June 10: (I am actually writing this Wednesday because the internet was down at Pilgrim House all yesterday) First off, I want to say, from all of us, "We MISS you DAVIS!" We are saving your secret servant bags for you. We awoke again to music blasting in the hallway as a nice alarm clock at 7am. We depart to our sites with sleep still in our eyes. Even starting a little tired, all the groups accomplished great things. The roof was about halfway done, siding was being painted, and clean up was always happening at the work sites to leave them better than when we arrived. Truthfully, workwise, Tuesday and Wednesday have blended together in my mind. The real highlight was after swimming at Rhodes College for about an hour, making our way to Interstate BBQ. The "world renouned" barbequw joint in Memphis, TN (per Tom's suggestion). We arrived and all began salivating, partly from just being hungry from a hard days work, but partly becuase of the aroma of rich, creamy, sweet barbeque. All three tables were treated with a plate of ribs, baked beans, cole slaw, bread, potato salad, pulled pork, spaghetti (for vegetarians), and some pie. I have never seen food devoured so quickly. Afterwards, everyone was so full, but content. We had some singing, led by the senior girls, devotions, and then we drifted asleep, looking forward to tomorrows work ahead. -Lauren-
